Anyone signed up to Community Fibre (Broadband)?

No. We had something delivered saying they would be installing fibre outside and in common parts. I almost got the idea it was agreed with the City but was unsure. There is so much going on extra work to install would surely need to be aporoved and coordinated.

Has anyone else hear about this company?

I also got a letter from community fibre but nothing about signing up yet. Never heard of them

I assumed they were officially endorsed by the City of London? Might book an appointment with them and see what they say about their service.

I would have expected a letter from the  Corporation to tell us this was happening

I had a note delivered about a couple of months ago

I had something through (GAH) but said no. Find my broadband speed fine in any case.

I think they are fishing to see how much interest there is. I put my postcode in and the service was not available in my area.

I ended up staying with BT, after managing to get a discount from them!

My BT has jumped up 17 pounds a month and over a month early. I will be contacting them and will be changing as I just can't afford what they are charging me. Along with community fibre I have also found this as well. Seems there are different companies vying for our money

When your contract ends with BT they automatically put the price up, but if you call them they will start a new discounted contract again, and I think if you have already paid any increase, they will credit it back to you.  It is always worth noting when your contract is due to end and contacting them a couple of months beforehand.

I have been with BT for a few years now and getting really fast speeds.

Ok I think I have got to the bottom of this. The leaflet was very misleading indeed. Via their website you eventually get to a form asking for you to register interest. Then your name, address and contact details and the name and contact of the person who ‘Manages’ your estate.

No doubt if they get enough interest they contact the City to say we have  x amount of interest. As it is being supplied to the Barbican, the Denizen development and presumably the new school, I don’t see why we cannot be included. The roads are dug up regularly anyway.

Fibre overcomes the BT copper wire problem and would be useful for those who work online, do online gaming etc. the UK is very behind on high speed access but as some say on here there are folk who don’t need that and cannot afford it.
