Save Bernard Morgan House

City of London

There was an attempted bike theft from the Bayer House/Stanley Cohen House basement last night. They tried to remove my bike, which was attached to an end vertical of the stand by a strong D-lock, by removing the bolts at the base of the frame and sliding my bike off the now loose vertical. Fortunately, the lock was too tight around the bike and jammed where the vertical broadens out at the bottom. [This method also explains how my previous bike was actually stolen last October.]

This event reinforces the obvious view that the basement bike stores cannot be fit-for-purpose until they are locked with access only via swipe-card.

If you would like to report this as a crime please contact the Barbican Police Office or crime reporting team on 0207 - 601 - 2000.

It may be the case that you do not want to report it, however I would urge residents to inform police of similar incidents or suspicious activity that is experienced on the estate to assist us finding ways to address these issues.
Already reported to the Snows Hill Police crime reporting team. Thanks for noticing so quickly and hope you can persuade the Estate that the basement bike storage rooms need to be locked.
