COLPAI Project – Notice of Public Drop-In and update on crane delivery

Dear Neighbour

Notice of Public Drop-In

We are writing to inform you that the next Community Drop-In event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 30 January 2020 from 6pm in the Golden Lane Estate Community Centre. We apologise for the short notice period of this meeting, which is due to a delay in confirmation of bookings. We will be issuing more information on the remaining dates for 2020 following this meeting.

Crane Delivery Update

As you will be aware, it was necessary to carry out extended weekend works on Saturday 11 January and Sunday 12 January to enable the delivery and erection of the tower crane on the COLPAI Project site.

Residents were informed of these works at the November 2019 Drop-In event and in the November newsletter.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected high winds on Saturday 11 January and Sunday 12 January, the erection of the tower crane could not be completed and arrangements were subsequently made to complete the works on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January. Residents were informed of this matter by email and website updates.

While ISG did apply for and receive, specific dispensation from the local authority to carry out the works on 11 and 12 January, a failure in ISG’s communications meant that the dispensation was not extended for the following weekend.

On Saturday 18 January, the City of London’s Environmental Health Officer attended site as a result of ISG’s failure to acquire the necessary dispensation for working outside of the agreed hours.

We would like to apologise to residents for this oversight and the inconvenience this has caused. We would also like to assure you that we will take all necessary steps to ensure that this does not happen again. Any future works of this nature are correctly planned, managed and approved in strict accordance with the relevant processes and procedures.

ISG has now had further discussions with relevant officers and, it has been agreed going forward, that officers from the London Borough of Islington will be the primary contact for future works on this project.

Future requests relating to the project, will be made to and processed by the London Borough of Islington who will, in turn, inform officers from the City of London.

The COLPAI Project team has also identified that, while many residents subscribe to our updates list, those who do not may, on occasions, miss out on information about the ongoing works and how it may affect them. At present the monthly newsletter is delivered to approximately 4,000 addresses in the local area. To ensure that the information we provide reaches as many residents as possible, we will now be putting the weekly bulletin information and notices on the notice boards at both Basterfield House and Hatfield House.

This will be refreshed on a regular basis to ensure up-to-date information is shared with the community.

Best wishes

COLPAI Project Team
