The Community Remedy, is a new statutory requirement that the police authority has the obligation to set up. This  new piece of legislation was introduced to give more power to  victims of low level crime or anti-social behaviour. The community Remedy is an action that allows a victim to decide what type of amends a perpetrator should make to repair the damage if the victim wished the offence to be repaired rather than the perpetrator going to court. The  Police Authority has the duty to consult with members of the public on what punitive, reparative or rehabilitative actions they would consider appropriate to be on the Community Remedy document.

The suggestions from the home office are in the consultation page attached. Most of the boroughs where this has been already set up have taken all of them and suggested to use combination of more than one action at the time, for example, written apology and repair of damage.

To have your say on what remedies should be included in the documents please submit the Community Remedy Survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/citycommunityremedy
