Dear Golden Lane residents,
I am writing to let you know about the launch of a food initiative for people living or working in the EC1 area:
The Old Street Food Assembly, an opportunity to shop weekly in an ethical and eco-friendly way and to support the local economy.
You are all invited to our opening party on June 23rd from 6 to 8 pm at St Luke's Community Centre!
The Food Assembly is an initiative that brings together neighbourhoods to buy food directly from local producers and food makers in a weekly pop-up farmers market.
It was recently awarded the prize for Best Initiative in British Food at the BBC Food and Farming Awards.
It's a great economic opportunity especially for small producers who can't afford to sell in supermarkets, and by sourcing exclusively food produced locally the impact on the environment is radically reduced. For the local community, it is an occasion to gather and get to know neighbours, besides buying fresh local food at affordable price.
There are already a number of Food Assemblies in London (especially in Hackney), and I couldn't resist the idea of bringing this initiative to my area. The Old Street Food Assembly will take place on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm at St Luke's Community Centre starting from June 23rd.
You can join the assembly for free and there is no commitment to purchase: https://thefoodassembly.com/en/assemblies/7402
I hope to see some of you on June 23rd at St Luke's Community Centre! To get your free ticket for the event, please use the Eventbrite page https://www.eventbrite.com/e/old-street-food-assembly-launch-party-...
Best regards,
Arianna
