A year ago, City of London Police launched its Local Policing Pledge. The Pledge sets out levels of service the public, who live, work or visit the City, can expect from their local police force.
We are constantly looking at how we can improve the services we provide our communities and value your feedback in helping shape our future plans. My purpose in contacting you is to make you aware of some proposed changes to our Policing Pledge and seek your views.
An independent review was carried out by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) to examine how well our force was delivering on the promises made in our Pledge. The inspection identified a number of improvement opportunities. The HMIC findings can be viewed in full on the City of London Police website.
Since the HMIC inspection in May we have introduced a number of new arrangements to speed our response to emergency calls in the City and improve the way we handle complaints from the public.
From January 2010 our intention is to adopt the ten National Pledge Points (currently we have 12 in our Local Policing Pledge). Importantly, this will allow the public a fair comparison of policing provided throughout the City with police services in other parts of England and Wales.
You can read more about our new Policing Pledge and send us your views by going online at

Our website also has contact details should you require further information or wish to speak to a senior officer about the Policing Pledge. The closing date to make your views known is Monday, December 21.
You may be interested to know that latest figures show that crime levels in the City fell by 11.9% compared to the same period last year. With your help we can continue to make our City a safe and secure place to live, work and enjoy. Please help us to get policing right in the City.
