PRESS RELEASE

Focus on food waste as Love Food Hate Waste hits London

Cash-strapped City of London residents will learn how to save money on their food bills as the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign continues its spotlight on London during September, October and November.

Almost 3,000 people across the capital have already been making the most of free Love Food Hate Waste training and passing on tips and advice to family and friends and saving money.

Love Food Hate Waste representative Emma Barnett said: “Many of us are feeling the pinch at the moment so saving a bit of money on our food bills can make all the difference – this has really resonated with the London communities that we have already spoken to. At Love Food Hate Waste we know that the average family could save around £50 a month just by making the most of the food they buy, and we’re looking forward to helping even more London residents realise those savings.

“During September, October and November we’ll be holding free interactive training with residents, community groups and businesses in the City of London. We’ll share the staggering figures for household food waste in London and show them how a few simple actions can help us all to make the most of the food we buy. We’re keen to speak to as many people as possible so, if you want to learn how you can cut food bills and help the environment by reducing food waste, get in touch!”
Any groups or businesses who are interested in arranging a free training session can get in touch with Emma Barnett on emma.barnett@wrap.org.uk.

Love Food Hate Waste is a national campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste and help us take action. It shows that by doing some easy, practical, everyday things in the home we can all waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too.
