Good morning City Residents

Please be advised that we have been made aware of a planned protest march being organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC). We are in touch with the organisers and have been informed that the meeting point will be Bank Junction at 1200hrs on Saturday 13th January 2024.

The route will be Bank > Queen Victoria Street > Cannon Street > Ludgate Hill > Fleet Street > Strand > Victoria Embankment > Northumberland Ave > Trafalgar Square > Whitehall > Parliament Square. The road closures are likely to be the same or very similar to the previous road closures in place for the PSC March on 9th December.

The form up and starting point will be Bank Junction. Dependent on numbers attending, the front of the March may be pushed along the route via Queen Victoria Street in the direction of Mansion House Tube and set off from there between 1230-1245hrs. The end point will be Parliament Square.

Timings for the road closures are unclear at present and we will aim to provide further detail of this in due course. However, given that the PSC march has been advertised by the organiser as commencing from Bank Junction at 1200hrs, the closures are likely to be implemented within 1-3 hours prior to this. The lifting of the closures will only take place once crowds have dispersed from the area and it is considered safe to do so. Further detail will be provided when it becomes available.

As would be expected, there is an extensive Pan-London policing plan being implemented for this event and you will see significant numbers of police officers in the area on the day. It is anticipated that there will be an extremely large number of people attending this march. As a result, with limited space at Bank Junction, the initial form up of people attending may extend along the planned route and also into surrounding side roads. This will be managed by police officers deployed on the day.

There is currently no intelligence that any individual premises will be targeted. To reiterate, from previous marches that have taken place, disorder has been minimal and the vast majority of people attending are present for peaceful demonstration only. You can assist us be reporting any observations of criminal behaviour or security concerns that you may have before, during or following the march, into our Control Room via the usual methods (101/999 in an emergency). Alternatively you can report directly to any police officer on the ground and they will direct you as to what action they require you to take.
