Some useful info recently sent to local Councillors. Registering now is essential for voting for new Councillors in 2021.

Residential voters

As in previous years, the residential canvass for the Ward Lists is being conducted at the same time as the canvass for the national Electoral Register. Each address has received a white Household Enquiry Form for the Electoral Register and a green registration form for the City of London Ward Lists. Both forms must be returned.

Initial forms were dispatched on 5 August. Non-responding addresses will be sent reminder forms at the end of this week. Our response rate has so far been higher than in previous years. In October we will ask canvassers to make a personal visit to each residential property before final reminder forms are left at each non-responding address in November.

As with business voters, residents who do not register during the canvass will be removed from the Ward Lists that come into force in February.

Publication of the Ward Lists

The Provisional Ward Lists will be published on the 29 November, with daily lists of additions, deletions and amendments published each day until 16 December. Each member will be sent a copy of the Provisional Ward List for their Ward.

The Ward Lists for 2020-21 will come into force on 16 February 2020 and they will be used for any Ward elections that take place in the following year.
