I heard that the Workshops are not listed. Does anyone know why?
They appear on all the cast wall 'maps' around the estate so I assume they must be part of Chamberlain, Powell, Bon's original plans.
Does anyone know when the Basterfield Mews garages were built and if they were designed by Chamberlain, Powell, Bon?
Anyone can put things forward for listing- see:

The Workshops are currently used by City of London Community Education Centre???? Or have they moved out?

Is this asset under threat: | Pre-planning discussions |
Details of threat: | City of London and London Borough of Islington are currently consulting residents on demolishing the building to make way for a new flats. The building appears to be a part of the Golden Lane Estate, generally listed Grade 2, by Chamberlain, Powell, and Bon. The inclusion of community facilities such as workshops and garages for disabled drivers was a major element of the first post-WW2 housing estate. (Sadly many of the buildings have deteriorated badly since 1957 under the stewardship of the Corporation of the City of London. Estate repairs are slowly taking place.) |
