Has anyone else been experiencing problems with reception for the ITV and C4, More 4, E4, etc. channels since New Year?

Horrifying story. Can't believe freeview is dead???  I don't watch tv myself, so I'm not affected.

It's not dead just a lot of interference, but it's only been going on since October 2013, but never fear the CORP have  had an expert looking into it, and I think he has left the Estate, away down to the Guildhall to collect his cheque for another job well done. Congrats to the CORP for another top notch service , probably show up on one of their surveys as 99.9 resident  satisfaction, as long as we all keep paying service charges and rents it's not a problem. I just wonder how many people in the housing department would put up with services like this in their own homes?

Just checked, for freest, magnetic north : 146.6° , Elevation:25.4°, looks feasible to point a dish through the window, will check it more accurately tomorrow.

How can the government have allowed this 4G lark to upset freeview????

I have looked briefly on the net , the politicicians were completely aware of the issues and went ahead with it, after all its only the plebs who have to live with it and pay for it, while they have sky cable and anything else you can think of on expenses, and they probably have a job lined up with the 4G network companies for favours rendered,  maybe shares  or maybe just good only cash, lol

Cause they're worth it.

Nathan, you should be able to receive freesat on the same cable that is used for freeview so you don't need a dish.

Outrageous eh! If I watched tv, this would sound like a valid case to ask for a refund on my license fee??

And a refund of the money they take for the maintenance and the installation of the communal aerial, and pigs might fly, lol.

I don't agree with the TV license, think it should be abolished.

Daniel I would be very interested and grateful if you know anyone who has Freesat or satellite on the estate thanks.

Having read a little on the net, the cable for satellite and Freesat is different i.e. thicker better insulated more rigid etc., in comparison to  television aerial (free view, or old analogue cable}, and the plugs and sockets are different also, they screw in to make connection as apposed to plug in for freeview and older analogue.

I was under the impression they didn't install a satellite dish or the necessary  cable for it, just a basic communal aerial system and cable, (free view)

I can see the communal TV aerial on top of GAH, and an FM aerial, can't see any satellite dishes up there, and I wasn't aware that any were installed.

I vaguely remember at the time when they installed the new cabling and aerial it was basic, and the company was going to make more money by charging for anything extra on top i.e. cable TV, freest satellite etc., and then because they did such a top notch installation, and the maintenance was so marvellous the Corp gave them the boot, and that would need to be extremely low standards even  for the CORP, and I am not sure if MDTV is the second or now the third company to have the contract since the new system was installed.

Hi Nathan

You really are amusing - thanks for all the information about the filter you got from at800.  i will give them a call and ask them to send me one.  TV reception over the weekend was  crap even BBC now affected.  Well done MDTV....!!!  Just sent

Thanks

Kathy

Hi Nathan

Just sent at800 an email - informing them of all the problems I am having with my TV reception and asking then if they can send me a free filter - will let you know what happens.

Thanks

K

Hi Nathan, the freesat and freeview signals are carried on the same cable and I have been using freesat for a few years. The faceplate in my flat had a normal tv aerial socket as well as a threaded satellite cable socket and both were supplied by the same external cable. If yours does not have both sockets then you could perhaps get it replaced quite easily with one that does. That will give you access to clear pictures and HD channels although you will need a freesat decoder box. If you want to take a look then let me know.

One limitation with the system is that it only uses a single cable, not a twin cable connection. That means that sometimes it is not possible to watch and record two channels at the same time.

I don't know where the central satellite dish is located but assume it is on the roof of GAH but low-lying and not as visible as the aerial.

Just checked and I have a satellite male socket on the plate, and my telly has freest built in, so I will be off down to maplins for a cable, I will keep me legs and fingers crossed that it actually works :-) given that it was installed by a company that got the boot, I am all excited, lol.

thx for that Daniel.
