After noting the difficulty in safely crossing Goswell Road without having to walk quite a ways, I made a call to the City of London Housing Department to ask if they might put in at least one zebra crossing from Baltic Street West and Fann Street.
If anyone cares to help out, there is power in numbers and a call to the same office would help build a case for this much needed addition.
Thanks!

I appreciate the difficulty and sympathise with what you say - this is a point others have raised before. One of the problems is that the west side of Goswell Road lies in Islington rather than the City - so any solution involves the City and Islington co-ordinating. Such an idea ought not to be unthinkable - indeed it is nothing less than perfectly sensible.
Elected Members (like me) have some clout in these matters, but there is nothing like genuine grass roots pressure to add momentum - Officers look to the overall case and demand for change rather than just following an elected Member who has a bee in his bonnet about something.
I can certainly ask Officers what the "test" is to justify adding a zebra crossing - there ought to be some objective criteria - and if there is a case bolstered by community support for the idea, and we can get Islington on board, we may be able to make something happen here. However, I know this has been looked into in the past, and the answer was not at that time encouraging.
Well I can tell you that I have already verified that they are in discussion with Islington over this as I have been lobbying for this. I gave them empirical data I gathered myself as well. I have a feeling this is going to happen but I put it to people to call in to support this since there is power in numbers.
