City of London

The 1 Golden Lane planning application includes potentially radical works to the street trees outside the front of the building.

Hidden away in supplementary documents is the proposal to raise the crown of the Silver lime tree to five metres. The image shows what could happen if this ’light pruning’ takes place. This is a healthy, elegant tree

that has a beautiful columnar shape. It is a fantastic source of nectar for pollinators and may not flower for years after this sort of set back. We only have to look at the poor butchered remains of the street tree outside the Denizen to see what might happen. The developer wants to ‘open up’ the façade of the building – a short term measure like making sure your house smells of fresh baking when you are trying to sell it!   They also want to remove the Turkish hazel and change the cobbles and planters.

Please consider objecting to this by either contacting the planning officer amy.williams@cityoflondon.gov.uk or via the City website https://www.planning2.cityoflondon.gov.uk/online-applications/appli...

Thank you

Sarah
