Event Description

Wren’s St Paul’s Cathedral stands on Ludgate Hill in the heart of our 21st Century City, with offices, shops and restaurants almost in touching distance. Its mediaeval predecessor was very different. Like cathedrals up and down the country it stood within a gated walled precinct (within the old walled city) - in many ways a world of its own. Jill Finch’s illustrated talk, part of London History Day, aims to recreate that precinct. A Cathedral surrounded by buildings, a churchyard and even a prison.
