I fully agree with Political Mother.
It would seem that the Corporation of London is best serving the needs of the business community. Its failure to provide much needed social housing at the ex YMCA building on Fann Street has shown this. Instead it was sold to Redrow, who are providing 74 apartments, making a profit in excess of £50,000,000.00 £50Million!!
Bernard Morgan house was another key site, that has been sold to Taylor Wimpey for private sector housing. Again the Corporation of London has shown its perceived preference for private residential developments within its boundaries, rather than using this site for much needed social housing. It is clear that the Corporation would rather their be no social housing within its boundaries.
Another use for Bernard Morgan House could have been for a state secondary school, the first within the City. This is really needed for residents within the square mile, who at present have to send their children to state secondary schools outside of the City's boundaries.
The Corporation of London's actions have shown time and time again that they are not listening to their residents and are failing in providing essential services within their boundary.
FH - City Resident for 22 years.
