I agree with you on all your points Roland, the proposed new all glass area where the police station and old folks club used to be will be, as you say, very much in your face, especially at night, this is another area that needs sound proofing and I do think perhaps should be kept as is. The plan didn't show as much greenery unless it was artistic licence of course but I wouldn't want to presume this.

It would seem that the present ramp and steps that are around the entrance and by the swimming pool have been enlarged if my memory serves me correctly. The walkway/steps along the side of the swimming pool certainly have, I remember that. The letter I sent to Carla Keegans setting down my objections I have also sent to Steve Stevenson just recently. I would like to know how we can influence any change to the plans? Am I a lone voice.

Partly because at night it will be very in-your-face for all those looking out over it when it is brightly illuminated (as gyms always seem to be for safety reasons) and full of heaving lycra (yuch!) and partly because gyms often also have loud music or TV. Gym bunnies just get bored pumping iron all evening unless the MTV is at full volume. I think they should leave the present glazing in place or replace it with something similar retaining the privacy of the estate and providing full sound proofing.
I didn't notice any greenery cut in the proposals back Sarah - was I missing something?

Can I advise you all to go along and vote on the the planning application for the above which is now live as it were. You should have received the letter from the City advising us of the dates and it was in the Evening Standard dated 6th July 2010. According to the Standard we have 21 days from the date of the newspaper to make representation. There are two planning applications one for listed buiding consent, LBC and one for planning permission, their references being 10/00390/FULLR3 and 10/00391/LBC

For those of us who look out onto the tennis courts you will need to note that the greenery is to be reduced or got rid of altogether and that greenery is listed. I do not want to lose this, amongst other things so would urge you all to vote against this or whatever one does to a planning application.

I am particularly opposed to the filling in of what they call 'the void'. I tried to make a comment today on the City of London's website, but their website doesn't work! I phoned them up, and they told me to email the comments directly to plans@cityoflondon.gov.org.
