new school and flats on Golden Lane- land for access on Baltic Street West

Baltic Street West:

paved triangle North of Hatfield House with the 2 big trees

Latest news from the Corporation:

"With regard the land at Baltic Street West it is not the City’s intention to declare this land surplus for Housing purposes.

The City is working together with London Borough of Islington to deliver a new school and flats on Golden Lane and it is highly likely that the land at Baltic Street West will be required for access purposes."

I hope the kids don't get flattened by refuse trucks!

Thanks for the update.

As likely the developers may wish to use the site, they will therefore require the permission of the City of London Corporation, I am certain that the Corporation will work with Islington Council, and the developers, to ensure that the trees are fully protected, along with safety notices to protect all, and upon completion the site will be returned to its previous condition, if not enhanced.

As part of the planning, I would personally insist that both Islington, and the City of London, request that the developers at their cost plant trees of suitable girth along Old Street, Golden Lane, Fann Street, and Aldersgate Street, taking into account turnings, access routes, safety, pavement widths and any other considerations, this will help to enhance the built environment for years to come, and go some way towards absorbing air pollutants.
