Save Bernard Morgan House

City of London

This update has been provided by Daniel Burford, Sports Development Manager.

Based on the consultation that was carried out from the 3rd – 24th April 2009, the third option of a complete refurbishment of the facility was considered to be favoured by a high majority of residents and centre users.  The proposal included the redevelopment and improvement of existing facilities such as the swimming pool changing facilities and Ralph Perrin Club. New facilities could include a gymnasium and health suite that will include treatment rooms and a sauna.  There was also the possibility of constructing a mezzanine floor within the sports hall to allow for two studio areas. This will affect the use of the sports hall for Badminton and Volleyball and it is likely that this area will remain as a single level sports hall.

The City of London has appointed Cartwright Pickard Architects to put forward a design for the refurbished facility based on a design brief directed by the April 09 consultation.  Once this piece of work has been completed in July 2010 a further period of consultation will take place.

To ensure that City of London residents, workers and leisure centre users are kept well informed of developments at the centre a regular news bulletin will be distributed to the facility users, residents associations and posted on the City of London web site.
