Hi Bijou, low water pressure has been a major problem on Golden Lane for years, depending on which floor you are on it is awful. The water supplier, Thames Water, have a legal duty to maintain a 1Barr pressure at all times, I am sure they monitor this, pressure can reduce if there is a major leakage.
I have a separate electric shower, which requires cold water, low water pressure often results in low pressure to the electric shower, if he pressure falls below 1Barr, the shower automatically cuts out for safety, to resolve this install a pump to maintain water pressure.
Best solution is to have a showerpowerbooster installed, its the most compact one available on the market, if you are on the ground, 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors then one pump £140.00 will suffice, however if you are on the 4th, 5th or higher floors one pump would still work, but it would be better to have two installed on the same water line, £170.00, as this will increase the flow rate further. http://www.showerpowerbooster.co.uk/ only sold by FlowFlex Tel: 0129877211

The installation cost should not be more than £150.00, could be a little higher if its to be located in a difficult place. You will need to locate by the mains coming into your apartment, and will need an electrical socket. VERY quite operation and the flow rate is great.
On another matter, some of my neighbours have replaced their old gas boilers with combination condensing boilers, hot water on demand, much more fuel efficient, eliminating the need for the space wasting water storage immersion heater, however water pressure can again be a problem as 1Barr is required. If you have a shower attachment attached to your bath taps, then this should work.
The Corporation is replacing all gas boilers that are over 15 years old, or faulty, with combination condensing boilers, the water pressure issue has been looked into. Carillion, 0800035003, who have confirmed that all replacements are and will be combination condensing.
To have a combination condensing boiler supplied and installed privately you are looking at £1,500.00 - £1,800.00 max.
Good luck.
