Oh dear I thought that the boarded up houses along this side of  Whitecross St were going to be restored but no!  An application has been put into planning in Islington for their demolition with no indication of what is going to replace them. Now I love modern architecture but those houses, restored and with shops below, would be a lovely contribution to the area. How can they give consent with no idea of what is the plan to replace them?

Does anyone know more?

Here is a link to the planning application. It gives the reasons for seeking demolition including structural surveys and comments by English Heritage but there is no indication  of what will be built in its place.  There is however a reference to reuse of materials so I think the replacement will be in the style of the original.
