Plans for re-landscaping Baltic Street - what do you think?

At the GLERA Meeting in January, we heard from Dominique Gagnon of Jamie Fobert Architects about his suggestions to re-landscape the area under the large sycamore tree on Baltic Street West, just outside the entrance to Crescent House and Hatfield House.

Dominique lives on Crescent Row, which fronts onto the site, and is an architect by profession. However, he's not planning to design the area himself or within his firm, so the following plans and images are to give an idea of what the plan aims to achieve, rather than for detailed comment.  He is promoting the scheme as a 'community project'.

The plans and images below show the views along Baltic Street, but with the proposed building which has recently gained planning permission to replace 'Sycamore House', the building with arched windows opposite Hatfield House.

There will be further (more formal) consultation should the plans advance - but at the 30 January GLERA General Meeting most residents attending were in favour.

Feel free to express your views in the comments or the forum.

Section 106 planing agreement is being negotiated in respect of C|OLPAI.
Is this an opportunity to turn this into a linear park leading to the new school?

I can understand that residents fronting this little space may want it to look prettier but what about the needs of the 29 motorcyclists who parked there yesterday? Some live in the area and have bikes to park - others use their bikes to get to work. There are no other available motorcycle bays available nearby. How about just tidying the pace up around the lovely tree but keep the bike parking?

Would be better to block off the 'White Van Man' short cut from Sycamore St into Old St.
