Golden Lane Gardeners and the Barbican Wildlife Group plan to plant a new orchard of heritage apple trees, plum, quince and damsons in the 12 large on-street planters in Fann Street. This is growing space 1932 of the more than 2,012 growing spaces funded by the charity Capital Growth in 2012.
Please come along - from 10.30 on 10th February to help plant the trees. The City has donated the planters and residents are invited to help maintain and water the orchard - and hopefully harvest the fruit when the trees have grown a bit.
Tools and gloves will be provided - but if you prefer to use your own gardening gloves or a trowel please bring them along.
Families and children very welcome.

I went down to the site today around noon, but no one was around. Was the planting all over by then???
Thanks for that Christine.
Sorry to miss you Steve - and thanks to Christine and Bill and all the other Golden Laners who braved to rain. We got the planting done in record time. I'll try and load some photos.
