Having lived on the GLE for many years, I always thought to myself I should give the residents bar (RB) a go, and I have been encouraged to do so by other residents,
I was informed that the RB subscribed as some expense to Sky and ESPN in order to attract people to visit, so as an avid football fan, I decided to finally give it a go.
All went well initially, a warm welcome at the bar, very good prices and a big screen. I settled down with my pint to enjoy the game, but at half time, the screen was muted, which I initially thought nothing of as many bars do the same for the half time chats. As the second half commenced, I politely asked if the volume could be turned up on the big screen, but was told in no uncertain terms that the locals/regulars wanted to listen to music, I finished my pint and took my leave.
Now the locals/regulars have every right to enforce their wishes/rules as they have invested most in the RB, but if they are trying to attract new customers they are going the wrong way about it, I felt about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit!
I was really looking forward to the RB becoming my regular venue for watching the football and giving me the chance to engage with my fellow residents, but my first visit will probably be my last, perhaps I was unlucky, a real shame.

Thanks for replying, I have no desire to engage in a blame game, I believe the friendly person behind the bar was simply following instructions from the 'regulars' who clearly were not keen on an outsider coming into their territory, I did find it comical really. I suspect it shows their true colours and they have no desire for new members upsetting their equilibrium.
All the best Pat and good luck!
