ITEMS FOR SALE OR RECYCLE

Unfortunately a fire broke out in the Garage and Recycle area by Cullum Welch Hse this evening. In all the years I have lived on the Estate (42 years) this has never happened..except for a small fire last year, which kids had set fire to the recycled battery bin!!
But I have never agreed with having recycle bins in this area, there are many reasons why.
1) Fly tipping, we have regulars dumping there rubbish and furniture, which over spills.
2) encouraging foxes.
3) Fires!!!!
4) Aesthetically looks terrible.
I'm sorry to say that CCTV cameras have made no difference to the Security or prevention of the above.

We as residents have to pay to have large items removed from our properties,
and unfortunately not everyone plays by the rules. So if this is a serious lesson learnt.
1) Anyone who fancies dumping their crap in this area, please think again!!
2) The CoL Corporation should remove these bins. If only for the above reasons. But also with what happened this evening, someone could have been very seriously hurt.

We phoned the fire dept -  smelled the smoke and then looked out the window to see the smoke rising. This is the 3rd time in 3 months a fire has been started in the carpark/bins area. The previous two occasions were at the other side of Cullum Welch in the basement recycling area below the entry door. Clearly it is deliberate and a bit worrying. I do hope the police are now investigating.

Also in the early hours, we are often woken by illegal scrap collectors who turn with a van and trolley to collect from the bins below us. A guy last week turned up in a van around 1.30 am, the music pumping from it, parked it at the top of the ramp and then went with his trolley for a good loud rummage in the recycling area.

thousands of pounds worth of infra red cameras, lol, a joke

I watched a driver reverse into the delapadated railings at the top of the exit ramp, couldn't care less and drove of on his merry way.

Does anyone know if the cameras even work, and who is supposed to monitor and review the recordings?
