As you may have seen the planning application has been uploaded online for the new tower block and school on the site of the former Richard Cloudesley School.

We have until 24th August to respond.

GLERA will be hosting a public meeting to look at the designs and formulate our response. Everyone is welcome, whether they live on the Estate or not.

Here is a link to the planning website:

http://planning.islington.gov.uk/Northgate/PlanningExplorer/Generic...

The plans are very difficult to access as they are spread over many separate documents. We will be showing the main ones at the meeting and providing easier download links.

Thursday 10th August at 6.30pm upstairs at the Community Centre.

Let's just hope this abomination does not happen to our estate!

Please could you send the link for the City of London's planning application for the RCS site.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks

Hi Sarah,

Check the Open Golden Lane blog here:

The article of 15th August gives all the links.

Lets hope this monstrosity does not go ahead!

I'm afraid that there is no-one in authority defending us Nicholas. The City and Islington have brought forward the plans and they seem to have put great pressure on their planning departments to approve them speedily. The Historic England response was very weak. This is a hugely damaging proposal, that fails on many planning policy grounds from the trivial - bicycle storage and refuse collection, to the serious - daylighting, density and height and all these breaches are excused on grounds of social benefit and "design quality". We don't see the design quality in this awful "cut and shut" scheme, and we don't see the benefit in building housing with no outdoor space, and losing all the Adult Education facility for a primary schoool that is not needed locally.

Our objections are the only counterweight to this awful proposal, and it's really important everyone registers their views now on the Islington and City planning websites.

Hi again, how can I help with this. Can you please send me the link? Is Sue still fighting for us?

Is there a meeting tonight- Wed 23rd?

If so, where and when?

I hope to pop around for half an hour if that's OK.
