Look at what this village organises for itself and compare it w ith us. Pitiful really isn't it. And there is absolutely nothing stopping us. I know this village well. There is a similar mix of people , ages etc

Good point raised Christine.  A BBQ etc sounds fab!!!

A letter went round a few years ago under the tenure of  Elizabeth Donnelly or it could have been Wendy Giaccaglia prohibiting  and fore biding any resident on Golden Lane Estate to hold or use a barbecue on the estate under the threat of legal action being taken by the CORP.

I have witnessed a group of about twenty people from outside the estate setting up a barbecue, with smoke billowing on a summers day on the lawn in front of Hatfield House from morning till evening one sunday, or could've been Saturday, unhampered and unchallenged by anyone, looked like a few families with children and the obligatory dogs which residents are also forbidden to have. They seemed to have a great time utilising the children's play pit, and using the open space of Golden Lane Estate to its fullest, and I just thought just for a fleeting moment, wouldn't it be nice if the residents were permitted to do the same, then I came back to reality and remembered the nature of the estate and the management.

I remember that letter Nathan, but also can't recall who sent it.

So,  you say you saw a group of people from outside the Estate having a barbecue on one of our lawns, and they were not challenged, yet us residents are threatened with legal action if we were to do the same?  Sounds right for the COL.  Yes, it would be nice if us residents were allowed to have the same 'rights' as outsiders do, but maybe that is asking too much.  Christine is absolutely right.  It is pitiful that we, as a 'village' too don't do the same as the one she mentioned.  This is simply due to us being told what to do etc by COL housing managers, who do not even live here!

I have always felt that we should not have numbers on our front doors, but  'prison cell' numbers instead, because that is the way we are so often treated by the COL.   I don't think  Estate management realise that its us residents who pay their wages, and they work for us, not the other way round!
