Hello All.
On Tuesday, 10 May, there will be a Residents' Meeting, at 7.30pm, in the Community Centre, for residents to vote on the future of whether GLERA will continue to represent all residents, or whether it is preferred that individual groups are set up to represent tenants and leaseholders separately. It is very important that all residents are represented, and it is hoped many residents will attend to voice their views. As a current Committee Member of GLERA I am committed to support any group the residents may vote for, as, am sure my fellow Committee Members agree, we all have the interests in what is best for all residents on our Estate.

Hello Maria - and thank you for your message.
We are new arrivals on the estate and so we don't understand the history of this. Is there an outline of the issues involved that we could look at before the meeting on Tuesday?
All best,
Robert and Kate - Bayer House
Hello Robert and Kate. Welcome to Golden Lane Estate.
In the past, the residents were represented by 2 different groups, one being the Tenants' Association, and the other one was the Leaseholders' Association. Some years ago the 2 groups merged together to become Golden Lane Residents' Association. There are now discussions taking place to dissolve GLERA, and split the groups again. All GLERA Committee members are committed to doing what is best for all residents, so if the residents decide to once again split back into 2 groups, the most important thing is how best to represent all residents' interests. Therefore, it is hoped as many residents as possible can attend the Meeting to express their views.
I hope you can attend Robert and Kate, and look forward to meeting you if you do.
It went very well indeed. It was great to see so many people committed to the best interests of all residents, and the general outcome was for us all to be united, as we all have the one thing in common, being what is best for our Estate, that we care about. There has been discussions of a possible separate Leaseholders' group, and Tenants' group being set up, and a representative did attend the meeting to introduce the possible Leaseholders' group. Unfortunately, no one attended who wished to form a separate Tenants' group, despite their claims that GLERA were not representative of tenants' interests. This was disappointing, because such a claim would needed to be justified to those residents attending the meeting, in order for them to base a decision on. As it appears, the overwhelming feeling from last night's meeting was for us, as residents, to stand together. We now need to work out how best to achieve this aim, and there will be a Committee meeting shortly, where any resident is invited to voice their opinion, which will be followed by an AGM.

That went well.
