I have just seen the notice about this. However, as far as I know, there is no actual 'garden' up there, and it's just a big empty space. I was told there used to be one, but not for some years now. All there is up there is the chance to see the good views.
Are there any plans to start an actual roof garden up there again, as it seems such a shame to waste such a big space with so much potential? Of course, that is for Great Arthur House residents to decide, as its their block.

Hi Christine.
From what I have been told, the original 'roof garden' was maintained by the City of London, but gradually, they lost interest, or were not prepared to continue. But, that surely does not stop the residents of Great Arthur House from getting together, and doing it themselves, unless they have tried, and the Corporation have prevented it. It seems its all 'Health & Safety' issues' now, which were never there before. All I know is that, at one end of the top of Crescent House, where I live, a completely empty space has been transformed into a 'garden', for the residents to enjoy, and also the top floor guest flat users.

That would be a lovely idea. Even if a return to orginal planting was no longer acceptable there are new lighter weight solutions that would allow a garden on the roof. And yes it is for GAH residents to agree, although it would be appreciated if other residents might be allowed the odd open day to experience it.
