This last Saturday I heard a lot of banging and drilling after 1pm, so went and saw contractors carrying out works on second floor of Crescent House near the guest flats. On Sunday morning, I heard a lot of noise outside near my flat on the top floor. It was 8.30 am. I went outside and saw several contractors working on the communal lights. They said they were the same ones on Saturday. I pointed out that there was no noisy works allowed at all on a Sunday, but they said they were told to do the works by a City of London manager. These were the rules that us residents have to abide by, yet it appeared the City were disregarding their own rules to allow drilling and banging on a Sunday. I spoke to their supervisor on the phone, and he said the works were authorised, and claimed he was never told about the regulations. They insisted on carrying on with the light they had started working on so us residents had to endure half and hour of drilling and banging from 9am in the morning. They then left. I spoke to the Estate Office who said they would investigate as they were unaware of this. It is absolutely outrageous that whilst us residents have to abide by rules, someone in the City totally disregards them. It makes any enforcement of those rules more difficult in the future. I have asked who was responsible, and think we deserve an apology and answers.
