The only answer to condensation etc is a dehumidifier!  Several years ago, when the COL turned off the inbuilt heating system, I suffered from terrible condensation, leading to mould, which ruined wallpaper.  A neighbour of mine also suffered from this, and the COL purchased a dehumidifier for her to use, which solved the problem.  As she was a tenant, they had the duty to do so.  Eventually, after a bit of a 'battle' they also purchased one for me.  Its the only thing that actually solves the problem that I know of.

Obviously the build quality of some of the flats leaves a lot to be desired.  My previous flat at least had double glazing.

in the interim Housing Associations flourished sometime involving wholesale exchange of local authority housing and some staff, in part to get around the restrictions on local authority housing.
Currently we again have givernment who want an end to social housing and affordable rents to be at minimum of 80% Market rents.

For sure Maria.  Been looking in Argos already.  Obviously if the COL were to supply one, that would be good?  Oddly, the condensation issue has stopped, but the mould remains.

I can't think of any estates that do not have double glazing and insulation, and a new cheap kitchen and bathroom does not compensate for un healthy living conditions. I would have thought that a warm dry healthy dwelling would have been a priority,  but obviously not.

       I would say the quality of build and design maybe of issue, and I would also add the quality of maintenance and repairs over the subsequent years.

Steve, The COL have a 'duty of care' towards their tenants!

Yes. It's very bad in Stanley Cohen. There's water all over my windows. Black mould in my bathroom and by my front door and in my meter cupboard. It's pretty grim. I have a dehumidifier but it just cannot keep up. It can fill up the 3 litre tank in a day and thats just in my front room. I have the old crittall windows which are hopeless. I long for summer when I had none of these problems
