Deliberate arson do you think, or a carelessly discarded cigarette?

One of my neighbours told me about this, and said he would report it.  I presume the Estate Office have their views on what caused it.  If it was arson that is very worrying, as you wonder what goes on in some people's minds!

What with thousands of pounds worth of infrared cctv recently installed all over the basement I am sure CSI city of london are on the case if they can find someone to watch the tapes, other wise just add it on to the service charge and rents.

Nathan, I think we pay enough service charges as it is, without any more.  We, as residents, pay for things we should not have to.  For example, I notice that we are being charged nearly £2.000 in garden maintenance,  and several thousands of pounds for cleaning etc, yet the City of London do nothing over the fact that the public, especially during lunch hours, completely take over Hatfield House lawn, leaving virtually no room for residents to use the facilities they pay for, and leave loads of rubbish behind, including cigarette butts, that the Estate porters have to clear up, and us residents have to pay for it.  If the COL want to continue to allow this area to be used as a 'public park', then so be it.  Let the public pay for it, and not the residents.  They can't have it both ways, although that's what they would like.  This is a private estate, and should be respected as such.
