City of London

We visited a friend living in Great Arthur today. On leaving the lift we noticed a very strong smell or perhaps I should say, a stench of cigarette smoke.
We wondered whether this was folk smoking whilst waiting for lifts, or smoking in the corridors. Or worse coming from flats where folk smoked heavily.

Does this happen in other blocks or other Gt Arthur floors? Maybe if people want to smoke they should move onto electronic cigarettes. You get your nicotine hit, smoking experience and no stink. If it's too expensive , join with other smokers and bulk buy.

The smell was truly awful.

I do not object to people who like smoking cigarettes.I do object to being exposed to passive smoke and the reek of stake smoke. It must be awful for people living near those lifts, on that floor who don't smoke.

How I agree with you Christine.  Sometimes, I smell cigarette smoke in Crescent House lifts, despite the obvious notices.  It is very unpleasant.  Unfortunately, a minority of people could not care less about others.  It is not right for any non smoker to be subjected to passive smoke.

The thing that also upsets me is the fact that some non residents use our Estate as a 'smoking area', and leave their cigarette butts on the ground, which the poor staff, who the residents pay for, have to clear up.  Yet, Estate management don't want to do anything about it!
