FRIENDS OF CITY GARDENS

TFL has asked Friends of City Gardens to help create a pop up garden on the disused platform at Barbican Station. Gensler, the international firm of architects, is working with FoCG on a pro bono basis to create a design that will fill this huge space but is also easy for volunteers to build and relatively cheap to construct. We hope to use as many recycled railway materials as possible and to involve local businesses in sponsoring the project.

This is a huge project for us and we would like your support

Stage one - starting now - is the design and construction of the planters and identifying and approaching potential sponsors. We need volunteers with skills in:
Construction
Design
Landscaping, and
Fundraising

Stage two - starting mid-April - will involve drawing up a planting plan, and then planting and maintaining the garden. We hope to have the garden installed by this summer.

For more information check out our website, Facebook or Twitter pages

Twitter @FcityGardens for more information and regular updates.

Please let me know if you would like to be involved. And if you could let me know what aspect you would be particularly interested in helping with that would be great.

If you have contacts with others in the local community who might also be able to contribute their skills or support the project please let me know.

Thanks and best wishes
