Hello.  In previous years our Estate has held an annual Christmas market.  But, this year we are not having a Christmas market, but a 'festive' one.  May I ask what that means?  Surely, this time of year we , look forward to celebrating Christmas, as is the tradition of this country.  Why has the advertising been changed?  Am confused.

Hi Marie, I echo your words with regard to Christmas. Seems the words Festive or Holiday are the norm. I for one address Christmas as Christmas as that’s what it is. I also wonder why we didn’t have a Christmas Tree in the Rotunda last year, are we having one this year? Or will it be hidden in the Community Centre.

Seems to me the word Community doesn’t actually mean that nowadays. If your face fits in the Community Centre and with certain groups that’s fine, but us stalwarts are the dismissed and ‘out of touch’ folk.

It’s a pity the Salvation Army stopped they’re Carol singing outside the Club many years back, that actually did bring the Estate residents together, the same could be said for the Carol singing by the Rotunda brought some folk along. It’s a shame that certain people like to prioritise a word, rather than the meaning behind it. Happy Christmas

Thank you for your post.  I agree with you.  I believe there is a tree in the Rotunda.  Some years ago I donated a lovely 6ft Christmas fake tree to the Community Centre, but am not sure if it is up this year.  A Very Happy Christmas to you too.
