Steve!  Yikes!  I hope you don't get the chance then to 'spruce' up the Coach!

Harpic is good I find.

You can't wash that!  Its covered in paintings.  What they do is touch up the gold leafing on it, and polish this and that.  It has to be treated very carefully as it dates to 1757.

Maybe they are washing it before the big day?

Having worked for several years at the Museum of London, I knew the Coach was always taken out the week before the Lord Mayor's Show, so am not sure why, or how long for, it has been taken out 2 weeks before!  At that time the Coach was always suspended over water, for humidity reasons, to protect the wood, and the horse harnesses were also on show.  Now, the Coach does not stand over water, which makes me wonder what the fuss over the water was all about at the time.

Yes, I`ll be at the show in a couple of weeks time.  Always an enjoyable event!

Yes, they are getting it all spruced up for the Lord Mayor's Show.  I have sat in the coach some years ago.  Nice and comfy!
