Harvest Festival is a celebration, in the autumn, of the food grown on the land.
Thanksgiving ceremonies and celebrations for a successful harvest are both wide and very ancients. In Britain, we have given thanks for successful harvests since Pagan times.
Residents on Golden Lane are asked to kindly donate food to Hackney Food Bank. Items that can be donated include:
Milk (UHT or powdered)
Sugar (500g)
Fruit juice (carton)
Soup
Pasta sauces
Sponge pudding (tinned)
Tomatoes (tinned)
Cereals
Rice pudding (tinned)
Tea Bags/instant coffee
Instant mash potato
Tinned meat/fish
Tinned fruit
Jam
Biscuits or snack bars
You can drop your donations into the Ralph Perring Centre on Saturday 25th October, any time between 2pm and half past 3pm.
As well as dropping off items for the food bank, residents are invited to take afternoon tea (or coffee), meet other residents and get to know their neighbours.
Even if you don’t want to donate items to the food bank you are still welcome to come and have some tea and cake (and it’s free)!
All donated food items will go to help provide emergency provisions for local people who are unable to provide for themselves.

Hi Lee. As you know residents at last night's Residents' Meeting were informed of your Food Bank cause. I will also spread the word amongst my neighbours, and I hope others will do the same, in support.
