Hi Ian

Thanks for letting us all know about the funeral and the scattering of ashes.

Alma will be sadly missed by many people on the Estate - some people will remember her from the Committee on the old Golden Lane Estate Tenants Association (GLETA), others perhaps for her all too short stint with GLERA (cut short by ill health).

And anyone with a shed  will remember her tenacity on the issue of "shed rents"!

I'm sure there are people on the Estate who would want to contribute towards the Remembrance scroll.

the entry in the Jewish Shrine of Remembrance scroll will read:
Alma Rose nee Finkle
Jack Rose DFM ne Rosenbloom
their ashes scattered here on
15/9/1997 and 24/3/2016
L'Chaim
total cost of scattering and entry will be £150- roughly £85 collected so far.
Alma's ashes were scattered on 24th March 2016 at 11am at the same place where her late husband Jack's ashes were scattered in 1997.  I got the usher to read out part of Esther as it was Purim.  He advised that it was OK to leave white roses as Alma was at most Liberal from what she told me.
There will be an entry in the Jewish Scroll for June as they were married June 14th 1950.
Alma Rose nee Finkle
Jack Rose DFM ne Rosenbloom
their ashes scattered here on
15/9/1997 and 24/3/2016

Ummmm.  Why a Spitfire, Nathan?  Jack flew in Lancasters.

I did ask about his DFM on here before didn't get any response so I deleted the question, just thought it was a great photo  and memory of the RAF in WW2. I apologise for any annoyance.

Nathan, how could you possibly be an annoyance! X

Alma told me they Jack got his DFM for climbing out off the window of his bomber with a rope around his waist to put out an engine fire- all while the 'plane was flying.  He was also Jewish and flew missions over Nazi Germany during the Second World War which seems pretty brave to me.

'Dollisson's Dead-Beats' from left to right: Sgt Syd Haynes, W/O Graeme House, F/S Jack Rose, F/Lt Jack Dollisson (pilot), Sgt Duke Earl-Davies, F/S Joe Thornhill, Sgt E. Jackson "Jacko". Photograph found among Dad's things after his death. One member of this crew is still living and is based in Tasmania. Dad's crew flew the marker missions to light the targets for the bombers - a most exacting task only given to the best crews!

The entry in the Scroll you asked for June has now been completed, and will be on display in the Shrine during the whole month.  We have a service of Remembrance here for those of the Jewish faith here on Sunday 18th September, lead by a rabbi, starts at 3.00Pm, last about 45mins.  All welcome.

Kind regards

14th June- Alma & Jack's wedding anniversary

Oh dear.  It's a Sunday.  I often used to take Alma off to an airfield, kosher cafe, other amusing places with a trip to a big supermarket thrown in.

I do miss her dreadfully sometimes.  Thank goodness that my divorce meant that I moved onto the estate and discovered some good friends and some amazing characters.  She was both.

RIP
