I have noticed that this year residents need to contact the Estate Office if they do NOT wish to enter, yet for the last few previous years, one had to contact the Estate Office if they DID wish to enter.  It was hilarious last year as it turned out I was the only one to enter the 'garden' section, and a neighbour the only one to enter the 'vegetable' section.  Well, as one would think, it's 'in the bag'!  Wrong!!!  My neighbour won the 'vegetable' section, obviously.  However, by mysterious happenings, it turned out that Crescent House won the garden competition, even though they, as a category, had not been entered in the first place!  Curious, I contacted the City of London, only to be told that because there had been a couple of people who had apparently, though I had not heard this before, did not 'approve' of the 'roof garden' I had created and maintained for all my neighbours, including guest flat users, who really like it, it was felt that I should not receive a recognition.  However, as I pointed out, I had NOT entered the roof garden in the competition in the first place, but only the area outside my flat!!!  Oops!!!  I then was informed that the 'rules' would be looked at again.  I guess this is it.  Can't wait to see what happens this year!

I think I may enter is it too late

No Jax.  As I said, this year you need to tell the Estate Office if you don't want to enter!!!

How can you be "automatically" entered?  I don`t have a garden, so not much use to me hahaha!!!

You tell me Steve!!!  The whole thing seems a bit of a joke.

An excellent and cool idea Christine!!!

You rebel you Christine!  Ha!Ha!  And, by experience, I can tell you that even if Alan Tichmarsh designed your balcony, it would not guarantee you a prize!  Well, not in my case anyway.  It would be much more fun to have a good natter and a laugh over 'mad' garden competitions etc over a nice cup of coffee, or, later on, something stronger!  Cheers!!!

Haha it all sounds a bit daft. I am not entering and not informing anyone officially that I am not. So there ;-)
I enjoy my balcony but to think I might have to improve it to win a prize would put me right off my morning coffee under the parasol.
Plus what about folk who don't have a balcony?
Window sill gardens.

I think we need to start up the community coffee mornings. Cake and coffee/tea
Any one willing to help put a rota together and help run them?
We could all have a natter about mad garden competitions and better ideasxxx
