Are the cutbacks by the Corporation in Rodent Control short-sighted?

Apart from our own estate's woes, I was told by a Barbican resident that they saw a rat in Carluccio's recently, another B resident had mice running around her feet in a restaurant in Farringdon, Polpetto@s or similar and there was a mouse  in Waitrose yesterday, the management said that they have exterminators in every three to four weeks.

I note all this as I am aware that a letter was sent to all residents regarding cats and small dogs. one would think good mousers and ratters are becoming essential. The more the merrier I say. If the landlord can change services that lead to an obvious increase in rodents surely they can change policy on cats and small dogs.

For the record we have no such small animal.

On a brighter note a fox was spotted strolling near the Rotunda- a usefull predator of  rodents.

I also realise a warm summer and Crossrail digging must be adding to the problem.

But I do think there are far greater problems than cats and small dogs on this estate. I would like to see some windows with clean curtains here and there and some much needed and very late works done on the Estate. 2021-2025 before new windows or any decisions about heating long term is a disgrace for Europe's richest Local Authority.

Very well said Christine.  All that silly letter has done has caused anger amongst those residents who have had cats for years, which the COL were fully aware of anyway.  Even one of their resident estate officers had a cat for many years!  They should be doing better things, like those you suggested rather than trying to intimidate people.  They are a disgrace!

For the record, they have always claimed that its the residents who oppose pets, which is why say they have this policy.  However, the last time they did a pets survey was at least 18 years ago, when they took me to court to try and evict me for having a little Yorkshire terrier.  They claimed the 'majority' had opposed pets, but in reality the majority were not bothered, as less than 40%, I believe, even answered the survey.

Christine call me if up need face painter I have a great lady does our fun day every year
